What Is Religious Deconstruction?

Deconstruction is the process of looking at your beliefs and practices with an honest and open mind. It is laying everything out on the table, evaluating it, and deciding what is and is not in alignment with your value system. It is asking questions and having hard conversations.

Deconstruction requires bravery. It requires vulnerability and honesty. It is an invitation. It is a process. It is a lifelong journey.

Let’s liken it to buying an old house. The old house may be in pretty good condition and just need a few cosmetic updates- new hardware and a paint job- or it may be completely rotted or destroyed by termites and need to be burned to the ground.

It depends on the circumstances. It depends on the person. There isn’t a right and wrong. To go back to the old house analogy, you may completely gut the kitchen and then later decide you want to bring back some of the vintage details.

The purpose isn’t to get to a certain destination. It is to allow yourself to be honest. It is permission to be exactly where you are and who you are.

Does this sound like you? If so, I’d love to have you join Unravel: A six week journey through religious and spiritual deconstruction. You can learn more here.
